Camp Days

Hey guys! So today’s post is a little sad because it will be my last for a whole month. I’m leaving for camp tomorrow (my last year. L I’m getting old!) and I will be gone for four weeks. I know that me not posting for an entire month in not going to benefit my blog, especially because it is still brand new and steadily growing, but I hope when I get back I can pick up where I left off! I love going to camp every year and I have been going for seven years, so I definitely didn't want to stop on my very last year!

I’m really sorry for my lack of posting in the coming month and I hope none of you unfollow because I promise a month from today when I get back I will be on here right away and back to posting even more often! You guys are awesome and I am seriously going to miss the beauty blogging community!!

I'll miss you guys!
See you next time!

Coming Back to MAC?

Today I got an email from MAC that I found pretty interesting and I thought I would write a quick post to  let any of you who haven’t seen it know! MAC is bringing back one retro lipstick and eyeshadow shade each, voted on by MAC fans and enthusiasts! I think this is really cool and even though most (okay all) of the shades were around before I was born and this isn't the blast from the past for me that it may be for some of you, I still am really excited to find out which shades win! I guarantee I will justify getting them when next year rolls around, especially if they end up being the ones I voted on!

If you guys are interested in voting you can check the page out here!

Which shades did you guys vote on?
Did you have any of these retro shades in the past?

See you next time!

4th of July FOTD

Hey Everyone! This post is a few days late because I have been on vacation with almost no internet connection (a blogger’s nightmare) but I thought I would do a little face of the day for the makeup I wore on the 4th of July! I’m really excited about this look and I love it a lot!

(Please excuse my hair, I hadn't done it yet!)

On the 4th of July I recreated a look that I saw on Beauty Banter Blog and you can check out the original tutorial here. The only things I really changed are the products (I used what I had) and I made the red lip a little more subtle by using a very light coat of Revlon’s lip butter in Wild Watermelon. I didn't do a very good job of photographing the eyeliner so again, to get a better look check out the tutorial. I really love this look because it is very festive while still being subtle, plus the ombre liner is really unique!

Products I Used:
Face:
Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Eye Concealer in 210
Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder Oil-Free in 01 Stay Buff
Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer
Eyes:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Naked 2
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Rimmel Scandal-eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in 008 Light Blue
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Pacific
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Peacock
Urban Decay Canonball Mascara
Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon

I also thought I’d include a few pictures of my day, because it was a really fun one!

What did you do on Thursday?

See you next time!

June Favorites

Hey everyone! So it’s the beginning of July which means it’s time for June favorites! There are a lot of new products I have been trying out this month and lot that I have loved, so here goes my first favorites post!

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse: I’m not one that’s tans easily, I mostly burn. Because of that this product has been great! Now I can be tan like a normal person my age in the summer time without the risk of doing damage to my skin. It’s win win!
Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh: I love the smell of this so much! I usually don’t like floral scents but this has just enough freshness to make it work. I do have to say it isn't the most long lasting perfume but I still am in love with it. The bottle is so pretty and looks great on my dresser! The smallest size this comes is the 2.5 oz. which makes it pretty pricey ($78), so if you are considering getting this I would suggest the Sephora Favorite Fragrance Deluxe Sampler For Her. This is only $50 and you get ten free perfume samples and a makeup bag with the full sized perfume! It’s an amazing deal!
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation: I’m in love with this foundation! It seriously perfect for me! I won’t go into too much detail now but you can check out a full review on it here! An update from that review though, I’m not mixing both of the shades now. I’m the right color for the darker shade thanks to St. Tropez!
Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss: These are the least sticky lip glosses I have ever tried! I have the color Always Lovely and I've really been liking it. I’ll definitely be picking up some more (particularly Non-Stop Glamour!)
Chi Silk Infusion: This makes my hair incredibly soft! It may be a little pricier of a product but I think it’s totally worth it and you should check it out!!
Urban Decay Cannonball Mascara: Remember my Current State of the Union about non-waterproof mascara? My problem is solved! I don’t care what you do this isn't going ANYWHERE until you take it off at night!

I have seriously LOVED all of these products this month and I really hope I've inspired you to check some of them out, they won’t disappoint!

By the way, does anyone else ever save the packaging of products? I cleaned out my drawer the other day and I think I may belong on hoarders!

See you next time!

Julia's Current State of the Union

The other day I was reading a blog post on Elle Fowler's new blog "Dreaming in Blush" (pretty name right?) and I really loved her idea. She talked about how on her old blog she had a series called "In's and Out's" where she basically told what she has been liking and disliking recently. This reminded me of a book series I used to love back in middle school called "The Clique". If you aren't familiar with them, in the books the main character, Massie used to make little charts that she called her "Current States of the Union". They were basically just a list of what was in/out to her lately. It was a nice blast from the past for me and I decided to take Massie's and Elle's ideas and make them my own. I think this will be a great way to combine the beauty, fashion, and lifestyle aspects of my blog. So without further ado, "Julia's Current State of the Union".

In:
Summer!: I've been having the most amazing time this summer! There's something about staying out late that just isn't the same any other time of the year.
LUSH: My best friend and I are both addicted and we just make it worse for each other because we fuel each other’s obsessions.
Bows: When you’re on your schools dance team there no shortage of hair bows and I love it.
Pretty Little Liars: In love with this show and have been for years!
Challah Bread: I could honestly eat an entire loaf of this by itself if no one stops me.
Self-Tanner: Protecting against skin cancer one bottle at a time.
Disney Music: Speaking of a “blast from the past”, anyone else obsessed with Mulan?

Outs:
School: I don't think much explanation is needed.
When your dog eats your Challah bread: It just makes me sad.
Non-Waterproof Mascara: I've had some unfortunate incidents lately usually involving non-waterproof mascara and a pool.
Shoes that give you blisters: More unfortunate incidents involving these. Ouch.
Riding your bike everywhere: I can't wait until I get my driver’s license!!

Okay those are some things I've loved and some things I haven't loved as much lately!
See you next time!

xoxo, Jules

Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

So it's time for my first review! Because I've had such trouble finding it in
America, (some say they sell it here some say they don't, it's all very
confusing..) when I saw the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in Shopper's Drug Mart
during a recent trip up to Canada I grabbed two bottles of it right away. I am
honestly so exited to have finally gotten my hands on this product as it is
raved about all over the beauty community and it seems to be is a staple in
everyone's makeup bag.

Some pictures of the product:

This foundation is beautiful! The two colors I picked up
were shades 103 True Ivory (my winter color) and 201 Classic Beige (my summer
color). I have worn this foundation every day for the past week and right now I
am mixing the two shades because as you may be able to see in the last picture (excuse my pale hand), even though it is almost July I am not quite tan enough for Classic Beige yet.

I can see why so many people love this foundation because it really is a great. First of all, i really like the packaging. The pump is super easy to use and I have found it distributes the perfect amount of product to cover your entire face. The glass bottle is nice because it isn't too heavy, but it also doesn't feel like it will fly off your dresser and break with the slightest breeze. The coverage is light to medium depending on what tools you use and it is definitely build-able. The formula itself is a nice texture - not to heavy or watery, easy to blend, and to me it barely feels like I have anything on my skin. In the bottle the foundation has a little bit of shimmer, but you really can't see it once applied. That said it is a more dewy foundation, which I love but may not be suitable for oilier skin types than mine (I have normal combination skin). With a power this tends to wear on my skin for almost the entire day, though it may need touching up if I am going to be out really late.

Good:

  • Pretty finish
  • Nice Texture
  • Good coverage
  • Fairly long-wearing
  • Practical Packaging
Bad:
  • Not suitable for oily skin types
This is really the perfect foundation for me! I usually opt for BB or CC creams as I don't have particularly bad skin and don't like to feel like I have something on my face, especially in the hotter months, so this really is amazing! This will be once of my essentials for a long time!

I am planning to pick up the Laura Mercier Body Souffle in Creme Brulee very soon as I have been stopping to admire it every time I pass the Laura Mercier counter for a long time now. Hopefully a review on it will be coming soon!

See you next time!

Introduction, 50 Facts About Me, + FOTD!

Hello! My name is Julia, though many of my close friends choose to call me Jules. I have always loved makeup maybe a little too much, definitely more than the average teenage girl should. I started watching beauty videos on YouTube about seven or eight months ago after happening onto one of AllThatGlitters21’s fashion videos and instantly fell in love with the beauty community. For a while now I have considered starting to make beauty videos of my own, but as I am quite a shy person I feel that beginning with a blog is more my speed. Because of this, "Born to Blush" was well, born. The idea of being able to “hide” behind my screen makes me much more comfortable than recording myself and uploading it for the whole world to see. Maybe someday….

In an effort to step a little more out of my comfort zone I decided that my first blog post should be a “50 Facts About Me” post as well as a simple introduction, so here you go:
